Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are hardened plastic shields that are placed on the chewing surface of your child’s molars and pre-molars — the back teeth — to seal the tooth surface and help keep food and bacteria from causing cavities. In one study, kids who received a sealant treatment had half the tooth decay of children who brushed regularly but didn’t have sealants.

Sealants match the exact color of your child’s teeth, are quick and easy to apply, and last from 5 to 10 years. If you want to give your child’s molars the best protection against potential cavities, dental sealants are a great place to start.
