Essential Functions:

  • Prepare treatment area in a timely manner by sterilizing, positioning, and delivering instruments for dentist’s access.
  • Must be comfortable presenting treatment plans.
  • Assist with confirming appointments, collecting patient payments, preparing billing, processing insurance forms, scheduling patients for procedures when needed, and other reception duties.
  • Must maintain regular, consistent and punctual attendance in accordance with assigned schedule and time off policies.
  • Participate in continuing education and seminars, which may require auto or airline travel.
  • Greet and seat patients in treatment rooms in accordance with Scheduling Institute training.
  • Conduct patient interviews, in accordance with Scheduling Institute trainings, with attention to patient health, safety, comfort and treatment planning.
  • Properly take diagnostic radiographs.
  • Escort and formally “hand off” patients to front desk after treatment, checkout personnel, etc.
  • Conduct office tours for new patients; prepare and distribute new patient gifts.
  • Maintain highest possible rate of efficiency to maximize doctor effectiveness.

The Dental Hygienist is the chief preventive provider of the Practice. This team member motivates, educates, and provides excellent treatment. Under indirect supervision, the Dental Hygienist will remove hard and soft deposits from teeth and examine oral areas, head, and neck for signs of oral disease. He or she will educate patients on oral hygiene, provide preventative dental care, take radiographs, or apply fluoride or sealants. By discovering and documenting areas of failure, both periodontally and restoratively, he or she facilitates the dentist’s diagnosis and treatment recommendations.

Essential Functions:

  • Welcome and seat patient cheerfully.

  • Prepare and properly set up treatment rooms for hygiene procedures.

  • Review and update patient’s health history; chart progress, treatments, and home care compliance.

  • Clean calculus deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums, using dental instruments, including scaling and root planing for patients with periodontal disease

  • Apply fluorides and other cavity preventing agents to arrest dental decay.

  • Assess and evaluate patient through exam, patient records, and patient’s medical history to assist in diagnosis of dental hygiene problems, disease, and efficacy of administered treatment plans. Complete scheduled treatments.

  • Recognize early signs of periodontal disease; chart restorations and notate areas of concern.

  • Develop and present treatment plans.

  • Capture x-rays, process, download and organize for doctor to view; capable of interpreting x-rays independently.

  • Perform head and neck/oral cancer exam.

  • Examine gums, using probes, to locate periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease; communicate findings to patient and doctor.

  • Selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient’s mouth, as needed.

  • Educate and motivate patient on proper oral hygiene and corrective/preventative measures.

  • Work chair side with Dentist as needed, assist doctor in hygiene examination.

  • Give anesthesia, if qualified, when asked for, and as hygiene treatment dictates.

  • Schedule appropriate re-care appointments.

  • Adhere to strict safety guidelines and procedures to OSHA and office standards.

  • Must always represent the practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner.

  • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to assigned work schedule and office policies.

  • Must be able to comfortably and efficiently handle multiple deadlines and task assignments.

  • Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in team settings displaying exceptional skill in time management in order to set and maintain own and subordinate procedure/task schedule.

  • Always maintain the highest level of confidentiality to HIPAA standards.

  • Must be comfortable seeing and able to maintain a professional demeanor and attitude while working around blood and smells that may be unpleasant.

  • Other duties and tasks, as assigned periodically.

Under direct and indirect supervision, the Patient Records Specialist will compile, process, maintain and report records of clinic patients for the Practice, other medical, and dental personnel, and other qualified interested parties while always maintaining the highest security, privacy, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the health care system.

Essential Functions:

  • Answers phone per the 5-star system:
    • Accurately identifies type of caller and forwards to appropriate personnel as needed.
    • Can handle the flow of the call, answers caller’s questions, does not provide barriers.
    • Answers phone with a smile, is upbeat and responsive to caller’s needs.
  • Obtains and retains phone certification.
  • Schedules new patient appointments allotting for appropriate time.
  • Accurately records any pertinent communication in their chart, updates doctors as needed.
  • Monitors emails from patients and answering service for confirmation and messages.
  • Protect the security of records to ensure that confidentiality is maintained.
  • Release information to persons and agencies according to regulations.
  • Review records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations and office procedures.
  • Plan, develop, maintain, and operate a variety of health record indexes and storage and retrieval systems to collect, classify, store, and analyze information.
  • Compile and maintain patients’ medical records to document conditions and treatments, and to provide data for research or cost control and care improvement efforts.
  • Learn to operate new office technologies as they are developed and implemented.
  • Must always represent the practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner.
  • Must maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance in accordance with assigned schedule and time off policies.
  • Must be able to comfortably and efficiently handle multiple deadlines and task assignments.
  • Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in team settings.
  • Occasionally there may be some travel, by car or plane, required in order to participate in continuing education or seminars.
  • Other duties and tasks, as assigned periodically.
  • Be active in the overall growth of the practice.
  • Be present and active at all team meetings.
  • Perform opening and closing duties per office protocol.
